An author of fiction, narrative nonfiction, and graphic novels, Deb’s most recent book is the young-adult graphic novel An Outbreak of Witchcraft, illustrated by M. Duffy. Other YA and middle-grade titles include Ten Days a Madwoman: The Daring Life and Turbulent Times of the Original "Girl" Reporter, Nellie Bly; The Magician and the Spirits: Harry Houdini and the Curious Pastime of Communicating with the Dead; and The Ghosts of Kerfol. She’s published two historical novels for adults, Captivity and Angel and Apostle, and—as editor and anthologist—Gothic!, The Restless Dead, and Sideshow. She lives in Portland, Maine, where she spends her free time admiring dogs, collecting seaweed for cyanotypes, and learning to play traditional fiddle.
